Chimney stack transformation
05 April 2023
A customer approached us to inspect their Bath Stone chimney stack, expressing concerns about the blockwork and lead flashing condition as they no longer used it. Upon our detailed examination, we confirmed the stone work was in good condition, however, the customer opted for removal to pre-empt any potential future repairs.
We erected scaffolding and covered the corresponding fireplaces below, preventing dust and debris from entering the rooms while the removed the bath stone chimney stack above.
With careful work, we dismantled the Bath Stone chimney stack and once the blockwork was safely removed, we ensured ample headroom between the remaining loft blockwork in the loft and the underside of the new roof felt, allowing for continuous ventilation within the chimney void to prevent any damp issues.
New rafters were expertly cut and securely bolted onto the existing ones, capable of supporting the weight of the new roof tiles. Synthetic felt was then meticulously installed, accompanied by the positioning of new treated battens. The final touch involved fitting new reclaimed tiles, thorough sweeping of the area, and complete removal of debris from the site.
The customer was very happy with the end product and along with the industry leading dedicated Photo diary they could see the work had been expertly carried out from start to finish without every leaving the comfort of their living room.
