New lead roofing
02 November 2023
We were contacted by Paxton and Whitfield to resolve some water engress that had started to occur at their shop in Bath.
Upon inspection we noted that the lead canopy which sits above the shop sign had reached the end of its life due to damage being caused by lorries reversing into it over the years as well as being installed in lengths too long.
Scaffolding was erected and the old lead work removed and in doing so we found that some timber work also needed to be replaced.
Once this had been carried out, new lead sheets were installed using lead welt joints which allow for the expansion and contraction of the lead sheets and the lead work was finished using a patination oil to the lead oxidising upon exposure to moisture.
